Der südkoreanische Autohersteller Hyundai will 21 Milliarden Dollar in den USA investieren. Das kündigte Hyundai-Chef Chung Eui Sun bei einer Pressekonferenz mit US-Präsident Donald Trump an. Ein Anteil von 5,8 Milliarden Dollar soll laut Trump in eine neue Stahlfabrik im US-Bundesstaat Louisiana fließen.

Weitere neun Milliarden Dollar will Hyundai demnach in die Autoproduktion in den USA stecken, um die Zahl der Fahrzeuge pro Jahr auf 1,2 Millionen zu erhöhen. Außerdem wolle der Konzern sechs Milliarden in amerikanische Technologieunternehmen investieren, die sich mit autonomem Fahren, Robotik und künstlicher Intelligenz befassen. Zusätzlich will Hyundai US-Flüssigerdgas (LNG) im Wert von drei Milliarden Dollar kaufen.
